About SMS Sheridan Junior High School first opened its doors in 1967 as one of the premier schools in the area. Since then, Sheridan Middle School has grown into one of the best kept secrets in the SW metro area. However, the secret is now out; SMS is the place to be! Sheridan Middle School currently enrolls 6th, 7th and 8th graders from all surrounding neighborhoods and municipalities (Denver, Littleton and Englewood included). We have a population of 400 bright, vivacious and academically engaged students. All SMS rooms are wired with surround sound technology that allows for all students to easily hear regardless of their seat in the room. SMS students have access to 6 different computer labs that house over 170 individual computers. Furthermore, we are one of the few middle schools that still offer a full range of band, choir and arts programs as well as advanced high school elective classes. If you are interested in seeing SMS for yourself, please call to schedule a “shadowing day.” |
Academic Highlights We offer a variety of other challenging, standards-based learning opportunities for all learners, including HONORS language arts and HONORS math classes. All of our Connected Math Program (CMP) math classes as well as all language arts classes utilize monthly Benchmark assessments. These computer-based assessments allow for teachers, students and parents to chart and see, first hand, individual student progress and academic growth. In addition to our social studies, science and elective classes, we also have implemented our CSAP preparation classes. These are aimed at helping struggling students succeed in math, reading and writing. At SMS, we really believe that all students can and will learn! Come check us out! |
